Airlines Hit For Charges In 193 Counts By CAB

The Civil Aeronautics Board bureau accuses American Eastern National Trans World United Allegheny and Piedmont of improper fares on 612 checked connecting tickets. Overcharges ranged 1.69 to 51.36 dollars with undercharges from 1 to 12.58. Civil penalties up to 1000 per violation may be sought.

Sharp rise in airline travel seen

Washington FAA survey projects passenger traffic to more than double to 524 million annually by 1984 with jumbo jets carrying 60 percent of seats. Foreign trips would climb from 2 million in 1978 to 62 million by 1984. fleet to 3,800 planes. pilots to 1.2 million. aviation fuel and business jets to 217,000. control tower operations to 112 million.
