Fourth Argentine Kidnap Draws Leftist Ties
In Argentina, three men and a 16 year old boy were abducted in separate incidents. Antony DaCruz of Kodak Argentina, retired Rear Adm. Francisco Aleman, Gerardo Scalmazzi of First National Bank of Boston Argentina, and Angel Fabiani. Police note leftist groups claim responsibility for DaCruz and Aleman, while Fabiani’s abductors are thought to be common criminals. Scalmazzi’s motives unclear. Six to eight perpetrators drove DaCruz from a Buenos Aires suburb. Authorities report ransom talks not yet made. DaCruz, born in Portugal, is a naturalized American citizen with Minnesota ties. Aleman’s case involved his wife and son, with graffiti referencing Trelew. Over two years, more than 40 executives have been kidnapped in Argentina, with ransoms totaling over $5 million. The largest single ransom was $1 million paid by ITT’s Argentine subsidiary.

Texaco dealers plan protest over new rationing quotas
About 50 Texaco Ol Co dealers in the Los Angeles area face fuel limits under a nationwide rationing plan. They will meet Wednesday to challenge what they call unfair restrictions, while 800 direct Texaco outlets report ample supplies. A spokesman notes 1973 purchases are capped at 1972 levels, prompting fears of shorter hours and higher prices. Samuel Goldfarb, protesting attorney, cites unequal access between direct buyers and distributors.
