Fischer Granted 24 Hours To Decide Championship Defense

Amsterdam reports the International Chess Federation extended world champion Bobby Fischer a further 24 hours to confirm his intent to defend the title against Anatoly Karpov. Federation president Max Euwe said no decision had been received by the July 1 Manila match deadline, and unless Fischer speaks up, the federation will formally declare Karpov world champion for 1975.

Man saves boy as own son drowns in canal rescue

Five Die as Fire Slayings Hit Buffalo Home
