Why One Black Is Running for City Council in Trenton
William Oliver Leggett, 28, a Princeton University graduate student, is a Black candidate for Trenton City Council. He argues Black representation will address urban ills as minority populations grow, the tax base shrinks, and trust between races deteriorates. Leggett has worked in government roles, taught, and led a campaign from a storefront HQ and Princeton. He says public service starts now, not at 35 or 40.
