Minnesota Territory and early Northwest settlement history
The text chronicles visits by George Catlin and subsequent views on Indian life, critiques of explorers, and early Minnesota territorial governance debates. It covers editorials, military and frontier aid to Catlin, responses to Featherstonhaugh, and notes on Lt Mather and Captain Murrayatt, with reflections on territorial organization, boundary disputes, and the 1846 7 congressional moves to establish a temporary government. It closes with local Lyceum notes and community notices.
