Preparing for the Odd Fellows Convention in Little Rock

Little Rock hosts the largest fraternal gathering of the year as Grand Lodge of Odd Fellows and State Encampment of Rebekahs convene Monday through Wednesday. An 8,000 to 4,000 attendee range fills hotels, with registration at committee headquarters, information booths, and a city parade ending at the auditorium for programs and speeches by officials and lodge leaders. The event includes a parade, degree conferrals, and sessions with commemorative addresses and inaugurations for next year’s officers. Also in Van Buren a record river flood rises rapidly, with 12 more feet expected before the crest Saturday evening.

Demand for Property in Dallas Texas Synod Case

Demand issued for trustees to secure immediate possession of Trinity University the Texas Female Seminary and related property from the Presbyterian church. Corsicana Presbytery presented the memorial to the Cumberland Presbyterian Synod of Texas, referred to overtures, with a favorable outlook pending Texas Supreme Court action on the Texarkana appellate ruling set for November 4.
