Mystery over Arkansas three cent passenger tariff filing
Five leading passenger officials from major trunk lines arrived in Little Rock to file a new three cent per mile passenger schedule but postponed filing after a brief hearing with the Arkansas Railroad Commission. They set October 15 to file and insisted the delay does not signal a lower rate. Officials from Iron Mountain Frisco and Rock Island said schedules were not yet ready and blamed public freight rate concerns for delaying the tariff. Authorities expect no immediate passenger rate change and note the three cent rate may be the only profitable option.
