Mustering of A N G Began Today In Little Rock
Little Rock June 30 With the arrival today of companies from Dardanelle and Texarkana the two regiments of the Arkansas National Guard are in camp at Fort Logan H Roots. There are twenty four companies of infantry two regimental bands and a hospital corps of 56 men. The mustering of the Guard into the federal service began today under Capt A B Sloan U S A. Only a few companies reach war strength of 441 men. Slow enlistments blamed on strict medical exams and age provisions. Consent of parents not needed for 18 to 21. under 18 restricted by law.
