Lovett testifies on alleged lobby effort to aid dissolving Union Pacific
Washington June 27 Robert S Lovett chairman of Union Pacifics board told a senate lobby committee that a long effort aimed to hire Edward Lauterbach to grease the wheels in Washington and block agitation against the dissolution plan for Union Pacific Southern Pacific. He said an impersonator calling as Congressman Riordan urged Lauterbachs retention and warned of congressional trouble. Lauterbach denied talking to Riordan and said only Kuhn Loebs Otto Kuhn and Paul Cravath spoke with him about retention.
