New York June 24 Porter Charlton confessed at Hoboken police to killing his wife Mrs Mary Scott Castle. He described quarrels at their Delaware marriage and after striking her with a mallet stuffed her body in a trunk then dropped it into Lake Como from a pier near Maltrasio. He later boarded the Princess Irene at Genoa.
