Death of T. R. Wright at Cameron Texas

Telegram reports the death of Thos R. Wright in Cameron Texas at age a Nevada County native who lived in Prescott years ago. He served as deputy clerk to O R McDaniel and A M Denman, then circuit clerk for two terms, and most recently assistant cashier at the Bank of Prescott. He moved to Arizona with illness in his family before settling in Cameron where he died yesterday. The family plans for burial in Willisville if transported. The community mourns a respected Nevada County and Prescott figure.

Inspecting State Militia in Arkansas

In Little Rock on June 22 Captain A. B. Lion inspected the militia company at Hope. Major W. Bradford will inspect companies at Yellville Dardanelle and Morriston this week to raise standards to War Department levels. The Second Regiment has been inspected by battalions and the First will follow. Joe Meyers of Helena resigned as major of the First Regiment and a successor has not yet been appointed.

Insect Damage Seems Temporary in Cotton Fields

Little Rock reports a letter from W D Hunter in charge of the Southern Field Crop Insect Investigation. Insects found in Judge C F Greenlees Brinkley cotton belong to Ophryastes, a species not known to injure cultivated plants. Likely damage from new land or weed-grown land. if so, temporary. Paris Green or arsenate of lead may be used as with army-worm control.

State National Bank in Little Rock Faces Examiner Probe

National Bank Examiner Smith appointed by the Comptroller of the Currency probes the State National Bank after its Saturday closure. Little Rock holds over 20000 dollars in deposits, with the city treasurer Claude Ringo’s funds protected by bonds. Authorities expect depositors to be paid dollar for dollar in time, amid prior suspicions of the bank’s shakiness.
