Interurban line meeting raises funds and interest

Little Rock citizens filled the Auditorium skating rink to back the Hot Springs to Little Rock interurban line. Several hundred attendees and Hot Springs business leaders saw about $20,000 collected in minutes and committees formed to canvass stock sales. The plan calls for $500,000 in 6 percent preferred stock with $1 in common per SI paid, and Gardner’s $1000 deposit risked if titles fail. Duncan McRae won Vanderbuilt University Founder's Medal after high honors in law. He will arrive today at Prescott to receive local congratulations.

Telegraph Operators Strike in San Francisco Over 25 Percent Pay Rise

Telegraph workers for Western Union and Postal Telegraph walked out at 3:30 PM in San Francisco and Oakland, demanding a 25 percent wage increase. The walkout involved most operators except one per office, following a union leader’s demand and a letter from Western Union president.

Gardner Wins $11,000 Award From Circuit Court of Appeals

Russell E. Gardner president of the Russell BE Gardner Carriage Manufacturing Co. wins $11,000 by a decision of the United States Circuit Court of Appeals reached in St Louis on Thursday. In 1905 Hampton Stove Co. of Arkansas agreed to sell Gardner 5000 acres for $20,500 with abstracts of title to be turned.

Acquitted Sheriff Williams of Hot Springs

Hot Springs June 21 Former Sheriff R L Williams was acquitted of nonfeasance in office after a 22 day court presence. He faced a charge for failing to arrest persons seen betting at Oaklawn race track during the last meet. The acquittal follows a jury deliberation of about thirty five minutes amid multiple indictments linked to alleged misconduct.
