Santa Clara Passes Panama Locks in Historic Private Vessel

The steamship Santa Clara of the Pacific-Atlantic Steamship Company completed another successful transit of the Maraflores and Pedro Miguel locks in the Panama Canal, returning to Balboa. It is the first privately owned ship to pass through, providing lock operation experience to its crew for American Tevister navigation.

One Third Of Corporations Fail To Make Returns

Little Rock June 20 About one third of the corporations have failed to make returns to the Tax Commission the franchise tax blanks sent them June 1 Report will be made to the Auditor July 1 and after that date a penalty of 95 per cent will attach

New Administration of Agricultural Education Gains Favor

Arkansas launches a state wide agricultural education program via the University of Arkansas. Veal demand soars flagged by calf slaughter trends

Washington June 20 The demand for veal has risen rapidly as surplus dairy calves are slaughtered and beef calves are sold at eight to twelve dollars for calves two to three months old. Farmers face profitability in marketing dairy or dual purpose calves while meat demand grows and cattle feeding shifts to farm direct production.

Inspectors seize forty five tons of feed

Agricultural Department inspectors seized 45 tons of feed at Monticello Crossett and Warren after finding it hot moldy misbranded or improperly tagged. Much of it was taken off the market and some was labeled fit only for hog feed and sold as such.

Capitol tax to be continued for land clearances near capitol

Gov G W Hays will urge the 1915 legislature to renew the Capitol tax and fund condemnation of four blocks between Cove Victory and Marshall streets, clearing land for landscaping while leaving some blocks near the Union depot.
