Schlenker Indicted In Fatal Fort Smith Shooting

Fort Smith June 19 Grand Jury indicts Leon Schlenker for murder over the shooting death of Jacob Reinach on Schlenker’s porch. Reinach a Frisco commercial agent and Schlenker secretary treasurer of Apple Hat Co. The coroner ruled the earlier shooting accidental.

Burglary Suspect Fatally Shot by Resident at Night

At 11 o'clock a resident heard noise and mistook Reinach for a burglar. He fired from his room, killing Reinach instantly, in a case outlining a deadly confrontation and its fatal result.

Clayton Chosen Temporary Chairman of RNC Meeting

Powell Clayton of Arkansas was elected temporary chairman of the Republican National Committee in Chicago on June 1. Elmer Dover was re elected secretary and W S Stone sergeant at arms. A committee was named to propose sub committees to go to Cincinnati to confer with Secretary Taft on selecting a permanent chairman to run his campaign.

Protection of Fish discussed by Arkansas official

Little Rock June 20. Senator Marshall Patterson of Woodruff county and attorney Har Woods met Governor Pindall at the Statehouse to discuss fish protection legislation. Patterson favors nets with larger meshes, arguing complete prohibition harms industry and could reduce game fish in streams like White River due to pests feeding on them. Patterson plans to elaborate in the coming session.

Salmon and carp mix praised at Mammoth Point

The speaker notes that fine salmon are abundant on White River after a break at the U.S. Government Fishery at Mammoth Spointe. Texas Stockman Hurt In Fall From Moving Stock Train

This morning at Emmet Re M. Harper of Mt. Vernon PX Ee was seriously hurt on the head while trying to catch the caboose of a north-bound stock train. He rode with three cattle cars from Mt. Vernon to St. Louis. The train stopped at Emmet and pulled out again. Harper attempted to catch the caboose, slipped, and fell, suffering a severe scalp wound. He was brought to Prescott for medical aid and will depart tonight on No. 6 for his destination. The injuries are serious but not deemed dangerous.

Cunningham to be Arkansas assistant attorney general

Norwood confirms C A Cunningham of Dardanelle will be named by Hal Norwood as assistant attorney general of Arkansas. Cunningham, a Democrat and University of Arkansas and Virginia graduate, is praised for competence and loyalty. Prescott Subscriptions School Opens For Grade Completion

Miss Winnie Haynie and Miss TRetter Britt will open a subscription school in Prescott public school building. On June 22 all students who failed to complete their grade may enroll to finish and be prepared for the next grade at the September opening. A general patronage of all students is solicited.
