Fire destroys Dr A A Reeder residence in Prescott

Fire swept the unoccupied home of Dr A A Reeder on East Fourth and Vine Street in Prescott this morning at about 2 o clock. The house had been moved back on the lot and was under construction of a new cottage when discovered. Origin of the blaze is unknown and insurance details could not be learned.

Teachers Institutes Largely Attended Across State

In Little Rock on June 17 officials say county teachers institutes are in session statewide with unusually large attendance and high quality. Practical agricultural teaching is now included, led by U S Department of Agriculture and University of Arkansas representatives. About forty of seventy five counties are reached, with some sessions extended to two weeks or a month at local expense.

Marr's Appointment as City Postmaster Confirmed by Senate

The Senate confirmed Jno A Marr as postmaster to succeed Jack Grayson. His renomination by Congressman Goodwin was sent in late March and the large workload delayed action until yesterday. Marr expects the commission soon and plans to take office around July first after bond.

Marble Delays Court House Contract In Little Rock

The $300000 Pulaski county courthouse faced roughly ninety days of delay due to a quarry strike in Italy. Marble from Carrara quarries, shipped to New Orleans for re-sawing, was used in the project, with substitutes found to complete the order.

Congressman Reid resigns from University of Arkansas board

Little Rock June 18. It became known that former Congressman C. C. Reid of Little Rock resigned ten days ago as a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Arkansas. Frank Pace of the Little Rock Bar was appointed as his successor from the Fifth District and begins serving today. Reid’s resignation came from pressure of private business making it impossible to devote time to the board. Reid had served two years.

The Chau tauqua association leadership met at the courthouse last evening with nearly all twenty heads of the movement present.
