Prohibition Clause in Food Bill Sparks Committee Clash

President Wilson did not issue a proclamation under the food control act prohibiting beer or wine production as part of the bill. The committee removed a provision barring use of appropriated funds for draft-age Department of Agriculture employees unless necessary. Department representatives objected, saying no exemption from military service was asked for nonessential staff.

WRECK VICTIM DIES IN TEXARKANA

Alfred Walters, a cook in the One Hundred and Sixty-ninth aerial supply squadron, died at Cotton Belt General Hospital from pneumonia after sustaining injuries from the May 21 troop train wreck near Garland City. New York June 14 The commander of the U 151 Capt Neustidt has been identified. affidavits from survivors aboard Hattie B Dunn Edna F and Hauppauge say he served five years as a gunner's mate in the US Navy. The affidavit details the submarine's armament and torpedo load. Neustidt said Kiel sent orders to attack or return home after sinking 15 ships, six American.
