June 15 Memphis report notes Bayou Meto Drainage District No. 1 awarded a large contract to R H and G R McWilliams of Memphis to carve 70 miles of canals draining 71 000 acres in Lonoke county. Two dipper dredges to start, work to finish in three years. Bid $344 000 on dirt moving at 10 cents per cubic yard and 872 per acre clearing. Bonds of 375 000 authorized. work to reclaim exceptionally fertile land south and west of Lonoke. Contractors include Ford and McCrea Lovel Rock and Chapline and Baird Lonoke with T M Fletcher T C Trimble M I B Cox as commissioners and engineer.

The State Highway Commission released plans for Jelks to the Cross county line in Woodruff county and a connection to Wynne, 17 miles at about 88,565.50 dollars with stone base and gravel surface. A second project from tould to Douglass in Lincoln county covers 7 miles at 55,481.80 dollars. An Arkadelphia to Hot Springs survey also began.
