Committees selling shares for a new Prescott telephone system report satisfactory progress. A stockholding meeting is called and officials expect enough subscriptions by Tuesday night to start work on the installation. If the target is met, the system could be operating within sixty days amid local tensions with the company manager.
Galveston Texas June 12 The Osgabuy chartered transport arrives from Vera Cruz carrying 42 passengers Including Lt Col William A Wright and Lt P C Kalloch In Infantry along with Mr and Mrs Jack London and Mr and Mrs Edwin Emerson Also twenty enlisted men returning home a few prisoners to be turned over to second division authorities Passengers expect General Funston to extend his Vera Cruz line.
W P Stephens of Blevins Arkansas died at his brother RS Stephens home in Gurdon at 4 am while en route home from St Louis for treatment. He had not been seriously ill Wednesday and died of heart failure. Remains were taken through Prescott to Blevine for interment. Survived by several grown children.
The Nevada County Teachers Institute closed with strong attendance and high quality work. Hon Thos C McRae and Mrs J W Tavenner praised, as did Mr W W Pfrimmer and County Examiner R D Martin for leadership. New officers elected include G N Starnes president and R Q Wortham vice president with plans for fall meetings and forthcoming exams.

Niagara Falls Ont June 12 Delegates from the United States and the Huerta government formally signed the first protocol of the peace series to restore order in Mexico. The document names a provisional government and outlines recognition by the United States while Huerta withdraws and a constitutional president is installed with potential cabinet. Mediators from Argentina Brazil and Chile noted no explicit Huerta role and urged Carranza participation after an armistice. Optimism rose among mediators as they viewed the protocol as a cornerstone for a broader peace structure.
Col. W. W. Folsom, veteran Hope Gazette editor, has serialized the entire New Testament over three years, printing one chapter per week. What began as a Gospel project expanded to the full Testament, with plans to republish starting Matthew chapter one. State Board of Charities met with Gov. Hays to discuss funding for the State Hospital for the Treatment of Nervous Diseases power plant. The initial appropriation has been exhausted. an additional $50,000 is needed to complete the project, enabling full use this fall.
The Arkansas Humane Society has erected a concrete drinking fountain in the grounds of the old State House and will supply ice water to visitors during the summer months. The group plans to place another fountain in City Park as well.
