Washington June 10 Secretary Baker announced in a speech to the French Blue Devils that more than 700000 American soldiers have been sent to France. Arrests in Sunshine Special wreck murder case
Herman Ray twenty year old and Perry Boyd about twenty years old were arrested last Friday on murder charges for wrecking the Sunshine Special near Hes at 12 o'clock Sunday night June. The wreck killed the engineer and fireman and injured 17. Boyd says he was at Camp Pike and has witnesses to prove it. He alleges railroad guards following a strike targeted him. Ray and Boyd held separate in county and city jails with Hempstead officers and Special Agent McGee. Ray’s home near Hope and Boyd’s ties to the Missouri Pacific strike are noted.
