Travelers Spend Flour in Prescott Visit Opens Hon McRae Address

The Ark ansas Travelers and guests arrived at Prescott by special train at 3:00 pm with about 300 aboard. Gov George W Hays and Little Rock leaders attended, along with the Shoemaker band. Hon McRae gave a welcome at the court house, W C Norman replied, and teachers from a 150-member institute joined the reception before the inspection of Prescott. The group continues to Emmet Hope and Fulton en route to Texarkana for the annual meeting.

Contempt Proceedings Set For Saturday In Arkansas

Little Rock reports contempt proceedings against Attorney General Moose special Consul Jo Johnson and J W Bourland of Fort Smith will be called next Saturday before Judge Trieber. They allegedly sued a corporation under federal receivership without court knowledge. all parties say they acted without knowledge of the receivership so contempt is unlikely. Also, the State Bank Commissioner orders a 16 28 percent dividend to Citizens Bank of s taken over last year and run by Special Commissioner L H McGill as it closes its affairs. this is the first dividend.

Little Rock June 10 The governor vetoed the re digesting act and private effort will take up the work by Associate Justice W F Kirby and Supreme Court Librarian J T Castle They will start after the 1915 Acts are published The last Digest by Kirby appeared 1904 Castle supplement 1911 Six session acts and fifty volumes of reports await digestion The task is long and tedious due to annotations in Supreme Court reports and publication is unlikely before next May creating the Kirby Castle Digest

Governor Grants Death-Row Reprieve in Benton Case

Governor Hays has issued a respite until December 15 for Clarence Devein and Jo Strong, both under sentence of death for the murder of L H Thompson, Benton merchant. Execution dates have been postponed by legal actions. Devein’s case is tied to a sanity inquiry being pursued.
