Former San Francisco officer guilty in bunco case

Frank Esola, ex police detective, was found guilty of grand larceny for conspiring with the notorious forty thieves bunco ring that operated here for months. He and seven other policemen face conspiracy charges. Gallo and Denegri testified to police involvement and tribute demands. The seven remaining defendants will be tried together.

On June 9 in New York Jere Cooke former Hempstead minister married Floretta Whaley the woman he eloped with to California six years ago. They already have two sons and had wandered from one end of the country driven by publicity. The last legal barrier to their marriage was removed.

Defaulter Held In Esteem In Caruthersville

A. C. Tindle cashier of the Pemiscot County bank which closed after a shortage will be retained by bank reorganizers to help straighten affairs. He turned over all personal property and real estate to Citizens' Trust, and no prosecution is planned. Community sympathy remains high.
