The Presbyterian Church case against Imon and Ethel Gee over land behind the Cumberland Presbyterian Church ended with a ruling for the defendants. Hail and high winds worsened damage as grain near harvest is described as beaten into the ground with some fields under water. The Arkansas Supreme Court affirmed the death sentence of Cincinnati Pearson, a Woodruff county man, for killing Deputy Sheriff John Harris eight years ago. If Governor Hays does not intervene, Pearson will be hanged in the Woodruff county jail at Augusta, possibly the last method of execution in Arkansas. Pearson, now hospitalized with suspected tuberculosis, was accused of grand larceny over a bale of cotton. Harris and a companion, while serving the warrant, were confronted by Pearson, who shot Harris and fled before being captured in Oklahoma.
