Double Murder Case Postponed in Hot Springs Trial
In Hot Springs on June 8 Rufus and Bud Wheatley brothers are not to be tried this term for the February billiard hall killings of Burt Waukasey and Bud Robbins. A September session will select jurors from a full box as two prior murder trials this term exhausted talesmen. Each Wheatley faces a 15000 bond. The case arose after a Wheatley allegedly assaulted Mrs George Iold, proprietor of an employment bureau, with severe injuries previously.

Visit ends with questionable bank deposits and farm purchase
A visitor spent a month in our area four weeks ago and stayed a week. During that stay he deposited checks totaling about 84 000 at local banks including Arkansas Trust and Banking Company and Little River County Bank. The checks were drawn on banks back home and were later found worthless. Relying on those deposits, the man purchased a farm for 5 000 with a check alleged to be bogus and received about 70 in cash from the banks and eight thousand in cashier s certificates from Arkansas Trust and Banking Company. No reports indicate cashier s certificates have been cashed elsewhere.
