Fire destroys Emmet Dry Goods Store and adjacent building
Early today at 1 30 a m a fire gutted the Emmet Dry Goods Store owned by R L Allen and damaged nearby properties tied to Ike Tyree. The blaze caused heavy losses to Allen and Tyree with no insurance coverage and origin undetermined as firefighters battled the flames. Wind aided spread, sparing two nearby structures and the stock of B F Snell. Rev C B McSwain reported the disaster.

State Fair Agriculture Palace Adorns Exposition Grounds
The Agricultural Division of the State Fair will be a major feature this fall with the Farm, Horticultural Exhibit housed in a large Agriculture Palace. The glass walled structure spans about one hundred by twenty feet, with a full length balcony and decorative grain and cereal displays. It sits south of the main Exposition Palace and connects on the first floor by a covered walk and on the second floor by an overhead balcony.

Commencement Week Celebrations At Bodcaw
Bodcaw school marked graduation with a May 24 sermon by Rev. I N Langston of Texas followed by a concert and elocution contest awarding Minnie Wimberly the gold medal. The Adelphian reunion drew many alumni and a large general concert filled the campus. Roll of Honor lists 90 percent averages. Last day temperatures reached 94 degrees with a 73 degree low.

Red River Rising Halts Train Service Next Week
No. 36 north bound passenger train due 4 50 p m from Texarkana arrived Saturday night after workers cribbed the track on the Tron Mountain line. The Red River began rising and continued to rise last night, with another large rise expected tomorrow. Rail traffic may be blocked through the week, threatening Cotton Belt viability if the flood worsens.

Marriage at Presbyterian Church in Hope
Miss Lelia Allen and Mr. D. W. McMillian were married Wednesday evening at the Presbyterian Church with Rev. C C Williams officiating. Airdome Planned for Prescott Ground Near Court House
A contract was signed this morning between De Hesterly and Mr. Dick Baird to clear land east of the courthouse adjacent to De Hesterly’s home for an airdome. The plan is to run a moving picture show this summer, using the current Denton building on West Main Street. Baird began placing lumber on the site this afternoon and aims to complete the project by week’s end.

Lady Killed by Train at Patmos
A southbound cannon ball train struck and killed Mrs. Thomas, an elderly deaf woman, at Patmos on the L. and A. railroad near Hope. The incident occurred around noon as she stepped onto the track in front of the engine, shocking the Patmos community.
