Arkansas State Convention Names Clarke Nominee
Little Rock June 5—The Arkansas State Convention rejected Kirby’s contest and declared Senator James P. Clarke the nominee by a 460 to 1 vote. Delegations split with counties carrying Kirby voting for Clarke. Little Rock will host the next meeting, with Paragould and Hot Springs also invited, amid strong government support for Hot Springs. Senator Clarke praised Clyde Going as a friend and worthy ally. James F. Delaney presides, L B. Gilliam is vice president, C. B. Courson secretary. The Lasker Morris Bank and Trust Co of Little Rock seeks a charter with $100,000 capital and $10,000 surplus. officers are Harry Lasker, Emmet Morris, Henry Lasker, and Robert W. Newell. Seventeenth bank in the city, opening next week.
