Commissioners Render Accounts for Prisoner Costs
In Little Rock June four the Penitentiary Commissioners filed accounts with counties that held prisoners in the state penitentiary awaiting execution. Total bills run about $2000. no county has paid. Attorney General Moose says counties should pay costs where the crime was charged, then seek reimbursement from the convict’s estate if solvent. The penitentiary board cannot decide solvency. counties should cover costs for safekeeping and execution transfers.

Governor Pardons Cider Dispenser in Arkansas
Little Rock, June 4. Gov. Hays pardoned W. T. Perkinson of Miller County after a $50 fine for selling cider said to be non alcoholic. Assistant prosecutor Pratt Bacon argued Perkinson did not know of alcohol due to a guaranteed, non intoxicating cider. The governor also pardoned R. R. Addleman of Garland County, jailed 30 days for aggravated assault, whose wife and infant depend on him.
