The court will take up injunction actions against State Hodges to restrain enforcement of a statewide prohibition bill. A decision hoped for Monday or soon after could affect related cases on I and Ry construction. Publication of the bill is expected as required by law.
The first annual encampment for Boy Scouts near Hot Springs begins June 1, led by Scout-master J W ter. The ten day outing will feature troops from Pine Bluff Little Rock Jonesboro Philadelphia Helena and Hot Springs with boys aged about 12 to 18.
Revenue report shows Ishi contributes one ninth of the state's income with $153,383.11 advanced to various funds. Of this amount $20,000 goes to Rock city and $100,000 to Rock schools, with sheriff distributing the funds already.
News from St Louis reports J W McKelvey, Prescott Ark merchant, leaped from a third story window at St John’s Hospital. He survived with a broken leg and is believed cured of his delusion that his wife and three children are in the hospital. CG W McKelvey left for St Louis. Constable Litton visited Hope.
Elaborate plans are being made for the Democratic State Convention in Little Rock next Thursday. The Jefferson Jackson Club presides with a 300 member reception committee. Also on schedule are railroad district conventions, bar association sessions, and a mass meeting on June 6 at Hotel Marion to discuss the levee on the Arkansas river.
Little Rock reports no further effort will be made to stay the execution of Robert Armstrong the young negro twice convicted of criminal assault and sentenced to hang the last date June 28. He is charged with assaulting Mrs J P Mussel formerly Miss Lila Hardcastle on Water street Oct 25 the light of a match causing identification. Armstrong maintains his innocence.
Prescott Ice Milling Co announces buying cream this season for Watson Aven Little Rock Creamery with shipping on Tuesdays and Fridays at 26 cents per pound. Farmers urged to maximize milk production to cover store bills as good herd cash dividends are anticipated. Paul Cregan returns to Morehouse Missouri after visit with Uncle Rey. H W Steen and family mentioned.
Hon B Gordon reports a letter from J G Hollenbeck Iron Mountain Ry assistant general passenger agent announcing a special car will be attached to fast train number 8 at Hope on June 5 for those attending the Al Amin Temple ceremonial session in Little Rock. Prescott is not a regular stop but will pick up passengers for Little Rock, due at 6 28. A large Knight Templar presence is expected in Little Rock next Wednesday.
The speaker authorizes W G Stainton to collect debts and pay all accounts outstanding against her husband Mrs O L Moncrief. The directive names the agent and the parties involved and establishes authority for debt collection actions on behalf of the spouse.
Sam Williams, 36, was sent to the penitentiary this week to serve 21 years for the murder of Jim Douglass near Scott's Station on April 18. Both men were tenants on the Alexander place and had frequent quarrels over a woman. The killing occurred at Williams home.
Mrs. Hewitt mother of Bert Johnson died in Highland Ark this morning at 3 30 after months of illness. She was 66 and had suffered from a complication of diseases for several years. The remains will be taken to Prescott for burial and then to her former home in Altha Kansas.
