Yesterday at 5 p m Wy Hitchcock slipped while working on the Christian church new building. He fell about 25 feet striking a piece of scantling and sustained internal injuries. He was initially thought dead but remained alive at noon today though in critical condition.
Arkansas river continues to fall with little chance of a new rise. Relief to planters and the penitentiary board. 40 acres of cotton washed away outside the levee, but system damage expected to be minimal as levee work proceeds at the farm. Superintendent Pitcock surveyed levees and crop damage.
In Hot Springs on June 1 the final meeting of the Bar Association of Arkansas convenes this morning. The Little Rock bar will entertain the state bar during the convention.
Senator H B McKenzie defends temperance positions after a May Arkansas Baptist list labels. He argues division among temperance factions and cites senate failures to pass a statewide or submission bill, condemning nepotism and Sunday gambling in Hot Springs and Vine Bluff.
Bodcaw High School ends another session with students urged to reflect on their conduct. The article asks if they lived up to their professed values and how their words and actions affected classmates as the old bell signals the close of the term.
June 1 in Little Rock marks the 19th annual Arkansas State Sportsmen's Association tournament. Amateurs compete for state trophies with high cash prizes and entries from Southern states. The Rose-Jackrabbit scoring system guides three days of targets and handicaps ending with state championship trophies. Governor yardaman expected to attend.
