Reduction in Cotton At Convention Likely
Memphians report that the Farmers Educational and Cooperative Union convention in Memphis may decide a 20 percent cotton acreage reduction for next year with debates over 10 to 30 percent. Delegates from every cotton state attend, Texas pushing 25 percent, some locals proposing 50 percent but unlikely. The goal is to curb overproduction and sustain 15 cent cotton prices. The convention also may choose a state depository and move national funds to Memphis banks.

State Charitable Board completes January work at Insane Asylum
State Charitable Board members met at the Insane Asylum with all present except State Treasurer James L. Yates at the State University. Judge A. M. Note presided. They authorized bids for heating and plumbing the new building and purchase of beds for the hospital. The group toured the institution and praised its condition. all members returned home except T. J. Williamson and Capt. Braley remained for ongoing improvement work.
