County Judge C T Coffman Frees Convict in Pardon

In Little Rock on January 4 County Judge C T Coffman of Pulaski County exercised his right to pardon. Lee Williams, jailed for attempt to graft a farmer by betting on a sealed envelope, was released under a promise to leave Pulaski County and shake its dust from his feet. Williams had been fined $500 and sent to the county farm for six months.

Pleasant Function Honors Miss Berta Pittman in Prescott

Mrs. Dan Pittman hosted a social evening at her home last night in Prescott. Several local young people attended, enjoying music and games with guests including Mr. and Mrs. Nat Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Sam O. Logan, Mrs. P. Arnold, Edna and Cleone Rudolph, Betsy Hinton, Lauralee Rowell, Berta Pittman, Hugh McDaniel, Art Warmack, Jno. Brown, Howard Powell, and W. B. Orner.

The Daniel Boone Company arrived today and stopped at the opera house. The unloading of two real wolves from the baggage car drew notable attention.

Disappearance of Pine Bluff and Little Rock Line Promoter Fiske

James J. Fiske, promoter of the Pine Bluff and Little Rock Interurban Railway, has vanished from Little Rock. Warrants reportedly out for his arrest, though officers cannot be reached. Neighbors and associates deny dissipation and say he may have traveled to Chicago to secure financing for the project, with doubts about success. The use of the firm name Fiske and Company of New York is alleged in connection with the matter.

Fortnightly Club Hosts Mrs Sam O Logan Guests

Yesterday afternoon the Fortnightly Club was entertained by Mrs. Sam O. Logan with guests Miss Betsy Hinton Miss Berta Pittman and Miss Julia Logan among the regular members. Light refreshments followed a pleasant session and the next meeting is planned with Miss Blanche Milburn on January 14.

Stag Dinner Honors Blake's Band Members

On December 27 Prof Dwight Blake hosted a six o'clock stag dinner for Blake's Band. The feast, described as unique and delightful, was remembered fondly by attendees including H. Safe Blow Open at Clarke Store In Bierne

A safe was blown open in the Jas. G. Clarke store in Bierne last night, with $125 taken. No clue yet. A Mountain special agent, O. J. Cantley, noted two crooks in town and suggested they may have boarded No. 202 north, seen lingering about.

A ticket to Bonner the horse with a human brain awaits the Arkansas State Fair audience in Hot Springs.
