Arrests for Whisky Sales Without License

Penitentiary Board to Discuss Boat and Bagging Plant

Little Rock Feb 1 The State Board of Penitentiary Commissioners will meet Monday with two key items. A decision on building or buying a boat to move men and supplies between the state farm in Lincoln County and Little Rock. Also consideration of a bagging factory advocated by Governor Pindall to cut cotton bagging costs for farmers by convict hemp production.

Thaw Jury Report Delayed as Deliberations Continue

After nearly 12 hours the Thaw jury faced a late night lock in as Justice Dowling adjourned until 10:30 a m. The panel remained split eight to four amid rumors of a divided verdict. Defense attorney Littleton urged insanity as a possible not guilty basis while District Attorney Jerome refused to speculate. Thaw returned to his Tombs cell worried a third trial might follow. Court staff expressed disappointment at the lack of a definite conclusion.
