Washington, Dec 29. The Department of Agriculture estimates the 1914 cotton crop at 15,969,000 bales, the largest in industry history. The 1911 crop held the prior record at 15,690,701 bales, with at least two million bales still in the field. The 1914 yield per acre is among the largest, about 208 pounds, while price is set at 6 cents per pound, compared with 12 cents in 1918.
