Little Rock presses for the State Fair with a plan to spend 30000 on the fair in 1914 and 1915 to take over the State Fair. Judge E R Batterree pledges land if legislature funds upkeep while Hot Springs patriots push for the effort amid Oaklawn sales risk.
Little Rock Dec 29 permits have been issued to 189 investment companies to do business in the state under the Blue Sky Department of the State Bank Commission. The list includes building and loan associations. Banks are being sent to all firms for annual reports as required by the last legislature.
In the coming week State Highway Commissioner Dye will announce a replacement for E A Kingsley who resigned Saturday due to personal business. Kingsley expressed appreciation for the Highway Commissioners and said he hopes the department will continue to grow and make its efforts felt.
Little Rock reports the Iron Mountain shops are open in full force after the holiday shutdown. The reopening demonstrates strong local industry as the operation employs an army of men and stands as possibly the city’s largest single employer.
Prof. D. T. Rogers of Jonesboro announced as candidate for State Superintendent of Public Instruction opposing George B. Cook.
