Shotings and a Stolen Mare Reported Near Prescott
Evening gunfire injured a man at a tenant house on C Bews place near the city. Hamilton claims self defense as he fled after a pursuit by deputies. A second shooting wounded a man in the thigh after an argument over a bay mare stolen from Cravens field eight miles east. Cravens describes the mare as a dark bay with a missing bridle, likely moved by horse theft on December 26.

Drops Dead at Work in Emmet Township
Geo Hathcoat of Emmet township died while working on a neighborhood road a half mile from home from organic heart trouble. He left home about 2 pm to cut a road, was not seen again by sunset, body found about 8 pm half a mile away. An inquest by the justice of the peace ruled death from organic heart trouble. Funeral at Forest Hill Church tomorrow at 10 am. He recently moved to the county two years ago near Liberty church and leaves a wife and several children.

Two Trains To Be Discontinued On Mountain Line
In Little Rock on December 28, officials said the St Louis Iron Mountain and Southern Railway considered removing two through trains on the main line between St Louis and Little Rock due to light traffic. No definite decision yet. One train would be removed from St Louis southbound and one northbound if action is taken.
