More Naval Officers Decline Decorations
Newport R I December 26 word that Vice Admiral Hilary P Jones and Captain Raymond D Hasbrouck followed Admiral Sims in declining decorations in the navy list was received here tonight. Jones commanding the first division of the Atlantic fleet wrote to Secretary Daniels declining the Distinguished Service Cross and protesting awards to forces under his command during the war. Hasbrouck, commander of the battleship Minnesota, is said to have asked removal of his name from the navy cross list. He formerly commanded a transport sunk by a German torpedo.
