New York celebrated its greatest Christmas since war with prayers of thanks for loved ones spared in conflict. From Bowery to Fifth Avenue New Yorkers joined in celebration as soldiers and sailors were feted. In the Hudson home fleet sailors ate Christmas dinner in mess rooms ashore.
Washington honors troops with a rotunda Christmas for children of service members as a Mount Vernon tree lights the event. Secretary Baker distributes gifts and delivers remarks. Paris reports Knights of Columbus turkey dinners in France and occupied Germany. An Odell sale advertises household goods and chickens auctioned for cash.
Paris December 25 reports the general peace conference will not assemble for more than three weeks. Officials warn there will be no immediate statements on delegate representation. Experts have studied tests for participation and expect negotiations to begin after President Wilson returns. Delegates will present credentials and tentative lists, with later additions including central powers. Neutral powers may join as plans for world-wide peace are refined.

Chaumont December 25 President Wilson received a hearty welcome from the people of Chaumont a town linked with American expeditionary forces in France and now home to commander in chief. The presidential train arrived at 9 am greeted by General Pershing Wirbel Prefect Passien and Mayor Levy Alphandery. Guard of honor salutes and banners decorated the station court yard as crowds cheered. The mayor pledged a marble wall slab in Hall of Fetes to mark the day and spoke of monuments to Americans and British. Mrs Wilson received a gift of gloves while soldiers filled locomotives and box cars to catch a glimpse of the president.
