Supreme Court rules on recall and amendments in election
The Supreme Court holds that the Bond Amendment was not adopted and blocks the recall amendment, confirming no more than three amendments can be voted on at one election. Ship Wrecked Crew of Florence Lost at Sea
Twenty two of the twenty seven crew members aboard the Furness steamship Florence, en route from Halifax to St Johns, Newfoundland, were drowned when the vessel wrecked near St Johns on December 24. The ship was carrying passengers and cargo to Newfoundland. Rescue efforts succeeded in saving five crew members.
