Negro Lynched for Criminal Assault near Azor
Saturday afternoon about two o'clock Abraham Denson entered the home of Jim Tyner near Azor and assaulted his wife. A posse found him two miles away, brought him to Parker township, and after a delay the trial was postponed. A mob overpowered Constable Phillips, then hanged the accused from a tree, bullet-riddled his body, and dispersed. Deputy Holloway arrived too late to stop the lynching.

Mowrey dies of heart failure at 60
J T Mowrey aged 60 died yesterday at 12 45 pm in this city from heart failure. He was en route to a friend’s home in a buggy when he lurched and died instantly near West Third and Main Streets. He was a mill man and longtime resident. He is survived by a wife and one child in Illinois. Remains held at Prescott Hardware Company undertaking establishment until relatives can be reached. The jury in Gardner Oliphant’s murder case acquitted Oliphant in Pulaski circuit court Sunday morning after a late Saturday verdict. He claimed self defense in the shooting of James Sheppard, a negro, last October. Romeo and Juliet reel and another motion picture shown at the Gem tonight.

Antis Win In Miller Circuit Court Texarkana Liquor Case
The Miller circuit court ruled in favor of the antis on the whiskey license question for Texarkana on the Arkansas side. Judge J M Carter presided after a lengthy, witness heavy hearing that began last Monday. Licensing now rests with County Judge Paul Cella when the license is applied. Saloon licenses set by Texarkana ordinance include 4000 dollars annually for retail and 2000 for wholesale, with rules for open operation and closing hours.

Judgment for School District over unpaid high school funds
In two cases the School District won judgments against defendants who refused to pay amounts subscribed for the new High School. Judge Thomas presided in Common Pleas. there was a credit for tuition already paid. The district appealed to the Circuit Court on the tuition issue.
