A collection of handwritten letters dated December 23 1909 from children in Arkansas and Georgia describing their Christmas wishes. Requests include toys such as drums, dolls, a rocking horse, blocks, a piano, cooking range, and candy as well as clothing and doll accessories.
A short note from a child Marybeth Terry asks to be good and mentions plans to visit Grandmothers and hang one stocking each at Grandmothers.

At a council meeting in Hope last night T. N. Black tendered his resignation as city marshal. The council elected Night Marshal John Griffith to fill the vacancy.

Pine Bluff city council grants Arkansas Natural Gas Company a thirty year franchise to lay and maintain gas pipes in Pine Bluff. Gas to be piped from Vivin Louisiana wells, delivered at 50 cents per thousand cubic feet with half price to schools and charitable institutions and free to city buildings. Pipeline to Malvern Hot Springs and other southern Arkansas cities. Company pursues bids. mortgages filed countywide. potential extension to Memphis.
Arkansas Natural Gas Company files a 2.75 million dollar mortgage with Colonial Trust Company to finance trunk pipelines from the Caddo field to Little Rock and other Arkansas cities. The 6 percent gold bonds are secured to cover oil and gas leases and properties. J C Trees and H B Grayson sign as president and secretary.
Lewis Rhoton, general attorney for Iron Mountain, resigns and will sever ties January 1. He handed the resignation to Vice President and General Solicitor Caldy in St. Louis. Judge W. E. Hemingway will become assistant to the vice president and general solicitor starting January 1 in charge of the legal department in Arkansas and Oklahoma.
Dr Francis Ward told the Royal Photographic Society exhibition that certain fish change color to match surroundings due to light acting on the optic nerve. In an experiment a pike kept in shadow stayed dark while sunlit portions turned lighter when the head was in light, showing pigment cells respond to illumination.

In Hot Springs Arkansas Princess Nouma a 30 pound midget and wife of Maurice A Growdy dies after a Caesarian operation that delivers a six pound baby. The infant is placed in an incubator and survives. Growdy a 7 foot tall performer from Shelbyville Indiana is 25 years old. The deceased was Mathilda Gajdos of Barot Hungary.
Advertises Hall's Texas Wonder claiming quick permanent relief for kidney bladder and rheumatic troubles. Testimonial style cites E W Hall of St Louis and product sold by Hesterly Drug Store in Missouri.
