A large explosion at the Dair mines of the Pittsburg Coal Company near Jacob's Creek traps up to 250 miners, about 100 Americans and the rest Hungarians, in a catastrophe on the Youghiogheny River corridor near Connellsville 40 miles east of Pittsburgh.

Branch lines run from Roosevelt to E Reno and Tatums to Ardmore. Estimated cost is $14,000,000.
In Washington on December 19 Congressman Wallace of Arkansas delivered three speeches in one minute in the House. He spoke on the tariff inheritance tax and good roads with sharp brevity. The House crowded with members pressed for attention as Wallace calmly completed the triad.
A member spoke briefly during a tumultuous session and obtained leave to have his remarks printed in the Congressional Record amid applause from representatives galleries and newspaper correspondents.
The Self Culture Club gathered yesterday afternoon with Miss Annie Watson as host. The next meeting is set for January 2 at 4 pm with Mrs. Jac M Pittman hosting.
