Grubbs Shootout Ends in Ex Convict Johns Death
Newport reports ex convict Thomas Johns was shot and mortally wounded at Grubbs 20 miles east after attempting to seize the town. Town marshal Walter Moseley returned fire as Johns fired at the officer. Coroner Grant plans to attend the inquest as the town mourns the fatal incident.
