Freight Wreck on Iron Mountain Near Witherspoon
A serious wreck occurred about 6 am on the Iron Mountain line at Witherspoon near Arkadelphia when the engine of freight 2nd 81 struck the caboose of 1st 81. A telegraph operator riding the train was fatally injured and a brakeman seriously hurt. Wires are down and the wrecked train has torn telegraph poles for miles. Likely no southbound trains today.
