Litt Rock, Dees 13 That the new constitution is gaining momentum. Supporters see the constitutional convention as a means to moral and powerful reform, urging election of men to draft a safe sane organic law for the state. Gov elect Brough backs the push, lending weight to the effort.

The Arkansas delegation in Congress will seek an appropriation of 20000 to survey the Ouachita River for water power and navigation. Support grows for the private Cedar Glades plant on the Ouachita near Hot Springs, with boosters hopeful for success.
Little Rock Dec 13 Judge J B Abercrombie of the Good Roads association and County Judge Association issued official calls for the annual meeting of county judges on Jan 17 and for the Good Roads Association on Jan 18 and 19. He proposed holding the meetings together to boost attendance and discussed plans to advance the good roads movement and a possible resubmission of Amendment No 14 during the early legislative session.
Little Rock reports the State Tax Commission's 1916 figures show a 2 529 584 decrease in utility assessments from 1915. Railroads stand at 85 862 376, telegraph and related firms 2 274 033, telephone 2 942 443, total 91 686 241. Franchise tax revenue also falls from 186 SHS 02 to 184 822 08 across domestic and foreign corporations and insurers.
Cale High School students gather wood and schools girls clean the building as winter nears. Many pupils attended the county contest at Rosston with some staying for Dr Brandon's party. The first team beat Emmet 5 to 40 at Rosston. Wes Godley returns from Magnolia and rejoins school. Miss Ismay McDaniel visited while teaching near Sutton. More literature ordered and a program planned after holidays.
Cale High School defeated Emmet High School 40 to 5 as Emmet managed only one field goal. D Westmoreland and Wes Godley led the scoring for Cale with eight and five field goals respectively, supported by Honea L God ley and C Westmoreland. Coach Marble officiated the game.

Based on figures from the Arkansas Commissioner of Labor, sixty saw mills in the state show that less than half have replied to a payroll information inquiry. They employ 9,634 workers, including 27 females mainly as stenographers, with 4,227 earning under 94 dollars per week and half of those married. The mills’ total annual payroll is 4,429,024.66 dollars, and they report 53,359 acres of land owned, with many tracts for sale at 2 or 25 dollars per acre.
