Barry Denies Dynamite Conspiracy in Trial Testimony
In Indianapolis on December 13 John H Barry from St Louis testified in the dynamite case that as an Iron Workers International union executive board member he audited McNamara’s accounts but denied any knowledge of funds used for dynamiting. He said he visited Steubenville before a 1909 explosion and talked with Edward Clark in Cincinnati about union conditions, yet claimed no awareness of planned explosions. He added that during the Mt Vernon explosion in 1910 he was not an official of the International union. Or tie KE McManigal admitted causing the Omaha and Mt Vernon blasts. William A H Quigley of Detroit, held to the January federal grand jury session on perjury charges, was later released on $2000 bond. Quigley testified in the trial.
