Mrs Sullivan Returned to Hospital After Ruling
Judge Shaver ordered Mrs. Jay Sullivan returned to the Hospital for Nervous Diseases in Little Rock after testimony by Dr. E. P. Bledsoe and others. Sullivan had sought habeas corpus to release his wife, alleging she was sane, but the court ruled she is of unsound mind and upheld hospital detention. Sullivan may appeal to the state Supreme Court.

Senator W F Kirby Sworn In As Senator From Arkansas
Judge William F Kirby was sworn in as United States senator from Arkansas to fill the late James P Clarke’s unexpired term. The ceremony paused briefly during a dispute over credentials, and Kirby joined Senators Reed Robinson and others in taking the oath. He becomes the twenty fifth Arkansan senator to qualify since statehood. Clarke was the sixteenth. Kirby will occupy suite 331 and await committee assignments after the Democratic caucus later in the week.
