A Rock Island Memphis Fast Mail wreck near Kerr Station killed engineer Oscar J. Hemphill and fireman J. L. Pegram. The mail clerk J. A. Carlock and baggage porter E. A. Burlson were injured, with a negro passenger lightly bruised. Train speed cresting 40 mph caused the derailment, burying the engine and car wreckage.

Hope merchant injured in Rock attack on Iron Mountain train
Mr J L Johnson of Hope is badly hurt when a rock smashed a Texas and Pacific chair car window on Iron Mountain train No 228 near Emmet Arkansas. A passenger was struck in the face losing teeth and suffering bruises. Dr Garrett of Hope attended the wounded man who alighted at Hope. The assailant was not found.

Eight Buildings Fall Into River at Pine Bluff Flood
Pine Bluff reports a historic flood with the Arkansas river three miles wide. By midnight the water reached East Barraque Street within 800 feet of brick buildings on the south side, as nine large structures stood between the river and the city.
