Bernhardt Being Treated in Rochester Hospital
From the Colonial hotel in Rochester Minnesota Mrs Jack Bernhardt reports her husband is under examination and treatment by eminent local physicians. Jack Bernhardt former Grand Commander Knights of Pythias Arkansas a leading attorney and banker was moved from Pine Bluff after a relapse from an operation and had been in critical condition for several days.

Hot Springs Hotels Plan Inroom Telephone Exchange
State officials of the Southwestern Telegraph and Telephone Company have approved a contract to install telephones in every room of the Arlington and Eastman hotels in Hot Springs. Over 950 telephones will connect to private exchanges, making Hot Springs notable for having multiple hotel exchanges. The Great Northern also contracted for telephones the day after.

Population Down 28 in Penitentiary Monthly Report
The November population declined from 1 163 to 1 135 as 61 prisoners were admitted and three escaped then recaptured. Of those received 24 were white men 34 were Negroes and three were negresses. Twenty eight white men and fourteen Negroes were pardoned along with one white woman and two negresses. Four Negroes and one white man escaped. Seven white boys were sent to the State Reform School and W M Duncan a white man was moved to the State Hospital for Nervous Diseases. One inmate Jim Owens a Negro died of tuberculosis.

Dieting Dozen Near End of Test in Chicago
Chicago readers report the dieting dozen nearing the end of a two week test claiming 40 cents a day can feed a person well. They are in excellent physical condition, with no indigestion or stomach trouble. Tomorrow's meals include grapefruit, griddle cakes, consomme with rice, leg of lamb, candied sweet potatoes, creamed cauliflower, mock plum pudding, Lyonnaise potatoes, cold meat, cocoa, and sugar cookies.
