January Term Nevada Circuit Court Convenes on New Year Day
The January 1917 term of the Nevada County Circuit Court convenes Monday January 1 at the usual hour with Judge Haynie presiding. Motions demurrers and attorney questions will be addressed and the court adjourns until Tuesday morning Grand and petit juries are not required to report until Tuesday January 2. List of grand jurors and alternates and the petit jurors are provided for the January term with numerous named residents from Nevada County Arkansas and surrounding areas.

Argenta Judge Seeks Certiorari In Impeachment Case
Judge James Gerlach of Argenta Municipal Court, impeached on two charges, filed a petition for writ of certiorari in Arkansas. Attorneys Hal Norwood, Fredging and Albert Gerlach argue the impeachment lacks basis, claiming no ordinance defines misconduct and that councilors were not sworn as officers of the court of impeachment. The alleged misconduct cited includes a drunken condition in Little Rock on November 15, 1915, and carrying a gun at Fourth and Main in Argenta in September 1916.
