Murder Near Washington Ends In Fatal Shot
Ed Carter, a negro, killed J. M. Wood, a gravel gang boss for the A. L. railroad, two miles from Washington. Wood had discharged Carter earlier and returned with a shotgun, which emptied into Wood's breast. Carter fled into the woods as Sheriff Velvin organized a posse to search the area.
