The trial of J L Barger Charlie Powell Rufe Mary Blanket Idea Abandoned Leader Faytindale Melborne Haltom and Foster Steele for disturbing the peace and carrying concealed weapons proceeds before Esquire W R Barham at Boughton. Prominent Arkansas politicians back a plan to replace blanket primaries with majority voting and a runoff, signaling a shift in Democratic party rules. Prosecuting Attorney EF BE Brown and others seek leadership roles as hearings and trials unfold in Redland Township and Boughton.
Secretary John H Page and others from the State Penitentiary Board will travel from Little Rock to the Lincoln county state farm next Monday to inspect conditions highlighted by Dr Russell. They will review reports of overwork and a resulting month of ten pneumonia deaths, with accompanying officials possibly joining from the agricultural department and possibly Governor Pindall.
